Elton John Featured in Doritos Super Bowl Ad

Elton John appears in a new 90-second spot for Doritos set to air during the Super Bowl. Spoiler: Sir Elton upstage’s the ad’s star, rapper Jack Harlow.

The plot of the ad centers around Harlow wanting to try “something new” in the recording studio. Someone sitting in on the mixing booth is eating Doritos, and behind her is a triangle instrument. Cut to Harlow becoming obsessed with the instrument and eventually, the triangle becomes a global phenomenon.

So, how does John factor in? Towards the end of the spot, Harlow is at an award ceremony where the award for “Triangle Player of the Year” is being presented. Harlow looks on confidently while eating Doritos, but then he loses to Elton! Harlow looks understandably miffed, which brings the ad to a close and its slogan: “Try another angle.”
