Emeli Sandé Strips Back ‘Look What You’ve Done’ And ‘Family’ In Acoustic Recordings

Acclaimed singer and songwriter Emeli Sandé has shared two new singles, the acoustic recordings of previously released songs “Look What You’ve Done” and “Family.”

Of recording the latter, Sandé shared: “I loved recording this song acoustically, it brought out a deeper feeling to the lyric for me. It was an honour to perform with Yoana Karemova, who brought the power and sensitivity to the beautiful piano arrangement by Raymond Wuiman Yiu. Performing together felt magical!”

“Family” is a moving tribute to growing as a person with the support of family and loved ones on their own journey of growth. “We been getting higher / We all learn to fly, yeah / Feet lift off the ground / Breaking through the ceiling / Oh, look what I’ve found / This a brand new feeling / We’ve been learning to fly,” she sings.

“Look What You’ve Done (Acoustic Version)” arrives with an accompanying music video. It finds Sandé in the studio effortlessly delivering the song’s moving lyrics while performing on the piano as well.

On the first verse, she barrels through stellar lyrics: “I’ll shout it from the mountains / I’ll let it float across the breeze / You’re deep within my conscience / Oh, you’ve made it to my dreams / I feel you in my bloodstream / You’re in my DNA / Still every time you touch me / I don’t know what to say.”

“So pleased to be able to release this acoustic version of ‘Look What You’ve Done,’ she shared in a statement. “I wrote this song on the piano, so this recording allows the track to shine in its purest form.”

“Family” and “Look What You’ve Done” were shared earlier this year as the first offerings from Sandé’s forthcoming fourth studio album, which will be her first since 2019’s REAL LIFE. The singer has described this new era of her musicianship as “an ode to resilience, rebirth, and renewal.”
