Eminem has released a new song “Tobey,” which features fellow Michigan hip hop icons BabyTron and Big Sean, and was produced by Daniyel, Cole Bennett, John Nocito, Car!ton, and Marvy Ay.

“Tobey,” is a celebration of Detroit area rap. It was first announced by Eminem in a short video on his socials. In the clip, Eminem wears a hockey mask and holds a chainsaw, and a woman gives birth to a demon baby. Eminem fans will recognize the hockey mask as an unmistakable nod to Slim Shady. The clip is a teaser for a forthcoming full-length music video, out this Friday, July 5th, directed by Cole Bennett. “Tobey,” is Eminem and Big Sean’s fourth time collaborating. It is both their first time collaborating with BabyTron.

“Tobey” is the second single to be released from Eminem’s upcoming The Death Of Slim Shady (Coupe De Grâce), which was announced in April, and comes out on July 12. “Houdini,” the record’s first single, came out on May 31. It was an instant hit and is Eminem’s highest charting single since 2013’s “The Monster.”

In May, Eminem teased The Death Of Slim Shady with an obituary in a print edition of the Detroit Free Press. The obituary, headlined “Slim Shady Made Lasting Impressions,” remembered Slim as “a rogue splinter in the flourishing underground rap scene of the mid to late 1990’s.”

The Death Of Slim Shady (Coupe De Grâce) will be Eminem’s 12th album, following 2020’s Music To Be Murdered By.
