Eminem has teamed up with Chicago rapper Polo G, his frequent collaborator Skylar Grey, and Sacramento artist Mozzy on his latest single, “Last One Standing,” for the new Venom: Let There Be Carnage soundtrack.
The track arrives on the same day as the Marvel film – the sequel to 2018’s Venom – lands in cinemas.
“It’s the revenge of the nerd, in every sense of the word/But all you see is the fame and the millions/You don’t see the strength, the resilience,” Eminem raps on his verse.
Speaking of the track, Skylar Grey said: “Over the past year I’ve been very selective about the projects I work on, outside of working on my album. I’ve really been putting focus on finding the right collaborations and the right film/tv projects. The way this song came together was kind of the perfect storm. Venom is one of my favorite superheroes because he’s an antihero and I relate to that. Also Tom Hardy is one of my favorite actors. So I’m honored to be a part of this.”
“I’m back with @VenomMovie and this time I’ve brought some friends for the carnage,” Eminem tweeted ahead of the song’s release. He previously contributed “Venom”, the official theme tune of the original 2018 Venom movie.
“Last One Standing” marks the latest joint project from the Detroit rapper and Skylar Grey, whose musical partnership began over a decade ago. Their most recent collaboration before this song came in Music To Be Murdered By’s “Leaving Heaven” and “Black Magic”.
In other Eminem news, the rapper will return to TV screens when he appears on 50 Cent’s upcoming Starz series BMF. He will cameo as White Boy Rick on the show, which will focus on the drug trafficking and money laundering organization, the Black Mafia Family.
