Empire Of The Sun Announce ‘Ask The God,’ Share ‘Music On The Radio’

For eight years Empyreans have waited patiently for word from Empire of the Sun—the duo of Emperor Steele and Lord Littlemore. The wait ends now with their new album Ask That God, which will be released on July 26 via Capitol Records.

The fourth age of Empire of the Sun unveils itself as a holistic musical adventure where imagination and reality blur and the surreal reigns supreme. “It has been a journey unlike any other that Empire Of The Sun has undertaken. We always ‘go there’ when it comes to exploration of both the self and the outside world,” says Littlemore. “This body of work represents the greatest shift in consciousness our world has ever seen and that’s reflected in the music.”

Ask That God is an album we searched for and were thankfully blessed with. We are nothing more than conduits, gathering experience and finding what is meant for the Empire to find,” explains Steele.

Earlier this week, Empire teamed up with Vevo for an episode of “Footnotes” in which they dive into the making of “Changes.”

In the behind the scenes look, the duo unveiled that the video’s star, Cruz Steele, is the son of the band’s guitarist/vocalist Luke Steele. The drawing he works on in the clip is one he actually made.

The duo also reflected on the message behind the song. They said, “The world is approaching a dangerous future, full of misinformation. We felt the need to create beacons of emotional truths. ‘Changes’ is such a pillar.”

As Lord Littlemore explained, “‘Changes’ represents the shifting sands of time, empires rise and fall but the sun shall shine on. Come once more into the world we’ve created, delve deeper within and be rewarded with its ever-expanding story, each and every one is invited to explore the new era.”

The duo also shared their insights on the genesis of “Changes”: “‘Changes’ was a breakthrough track for us. It felt like the moment of clarity when it became evident we were in the new era, our time of rebirth, the next chapter of Empire.”
