Fan Finds Led Zeppelin Concert Footage in Storage Shed

A New Zealand-based photographer has found once lost video footage he took during a Led Zeppelin concert in Auckland in 1972 that was just sitting in his storage shed for years.

Lloyd Godman was just 20-years-old when he shot the Zeppelin show, and he told The New Zealand Herald, “I knew I had this roll of film in the shed so I sent it off to get digitised. I knew there was band stuff on it but I didn’t know what it was. It came back and there was the Zeppelin film.”

Godman added, “[My reaction was] really one of joy because, of the still photographs I took, I only ended up with six shots, which were really the rejects because the promoter had picked through the best of them and they just disappeared. So finding this was like finding gold really.”

Godman has about five minutes of footage from the show which can be viewed below. While he notes the footage is very grainy, it’s at least tightly framed around the band.

With “Spring Cleaning” season just around the corner, let this be a lesson for everyone: Make the time to sort through everything you have in storage. You never know what you might find.
