Flea, the bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, has shared his thoughts on the new documentary, “The Rise of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: Our Brother, Hillel.” This Netflix film highlights the early days of the band, focusing on the original guitarist Hillel Slovak, who passed away in 1988.
Flea expressed his gratitude for the documentary on his Instagram Story, saying, “I’m so grateful it exists, and that more people will know how much [Slovak] meant and continues to mean to us as a friend and bandmate.” He described the film as beautifully made and noted that it filled his heart, though it also brought a sense of lifelong sadness.
Both Flea and RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis were interviewed for the film. However, they clarified that they were not involved in its creative process.
In other news, Flea recently released his debut solo album, “Honora,” on Friday. Fans of the band and music lovers alike are excited to see how this documentary and Flea’s new music will resonate with audiences.
