Foo Fighters Confront Westboro Baptist Church With Love & Disco

Foo Fighters have a history with the Westboro Baptist Church, and it continued yesterday (August 5) when the band confronted them outside the Azura Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, Kansas.

The group was picketing outside of the Azura Amphitheater before the Foos’ show when the band rolled up on a flatbed truck. Dressed as their Dees Gees alter-egos, Dave Grohl addressed the picketers. As seen in the video below, Grohl says, “Ladies and gentlemen, I got something to say. Because you know what? I love you! I do. The way I look at it, I love everybody. Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do? Can’t you just love everybody? ‘Cause I think it’s about love. That’s what I think. I think we’re all about love. And you shouldn’t be hatin’! You know what y’all should be doin’? You should be dancing!”

The band then launches into their cover of the Bee Gees classic tune, much to the delight of the fans who caught the moment.

Foo Fighters have had two previous run-ins with the church: The first was in 2011 and the second was in 2016, where they decided to literally Rick Roll the group.

The Westboro Baptist Church, best known for its “God Hates F—” picket signs, has been designated by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate group and has been denounced by various Baptist and Christian groups.
