Foo Fighters Perform First Concert with New Drummer Ilan Rubin

The Foo Fighters took the stage on Saturday at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California, marking their first show with new drummer Ilan Rubin, who previously played with Nine Inch Nails. In a video shared on the band’s Instagram Story, Dave Grohl introduced Rubin to the crowd, saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the most bad* mother*, Ilan Rubin, playing drums in the Foo Fighters right now.”

This concert was the band’s first since August 2024. Grohl acknowledged their time away from the stage, exclaiming, “Oh my f* God, it’s been a while. It’s f been a while, huh?” The band delivered an impressive 25-song set, featuring fan favorites like “All My Life,” “My Hero,” “Times Like These,” “Learn to Fly,” “The Pretender,” “This Is A Call,” “Stacked Actors,” and “Monkey Wrench,” closing the night with the classic “Everlong.”

They also played some songs they hadn’t performed in years, including “Have It All,” which hadn’t been played since 2015. The band revisited tracks from their 1995 debut album, “Alone + Easy Target” and “Exhausted,” last played in 2018 and 2014, respectively. Additionally, they performed “Winnebago,” a song Grohl recorded under the name Late!, for the first time since 2014.

This concert was announced just a day before and was the band’s first since Grohl’s 2024 infidelity scandal. The Foo Fighters are set to begin a tour of Asia in October.
