The Foo Fighters performed a special tribute to Mariah Carey at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala, and it might seem like an unusual match. But if you know about Carey’s secret grunge album, it makes more sense.
In 1995, a band called Chick released an alt-rock album titled *Someone’s Ugly Daughter*. At the time, no one knew that Mariah Carey contributed to it anonymously. She later revealed her involvement in her 2020 memoir, *The Meaning of Mariah Carey*.
During the gala, which took place in Los Angeles on Friday, the Foo Fighters brought songs from *Someone’s Ugly Daughter* to life on stage. They performed tracks like “Hermit” and “Love Is a Scam.”
Dave Grohl and the band were joined by Taylor Momsen from The Pretty Reckless, who took the lead vocals for the performance. Fans can catch clips from the show on Momsen’s Instagram Stories.
It was a memorable night celebrating Mariah’s incredible career and her philanthropic efforts.
