Foo Fighters Replace Pantera at Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park

Foo Fighters will be headlining the popular German festivals Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park this summer.

The band shared across their social media channels they will be headlining Rock Am Ring on June 2 followed by their headlining set at Rock Im Park on June 4.

The news of the Foos’s headlining sets comes two days after both festivals announced Pantera would no longer be appearing. As previously reported, both festivals shared a joint statement about the metal band being dropped from their respective lineups. The statement read, in part, “In the last few weeks, we have had many intensive conversations with artists, our partners and you, the festival fans, we have continued to deal with the criticism together and decided to remove the band from the program.”

Some outlets speculate Pantera was dropped from these German festivals because of a 2016 incident involving singer Phil Anselmo. The incident occurred at Dimebash, a concert honoring late Pantera guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott. Video surfaced from the event showing Anselmo giving a Nazi salute and yelling “White power.”

Anselmo has since apologized in a video statement and spoken about the incident multiple times including an October 2016 interview with Decibel and a November 2016 interview with Clrvynt.

The Foo Fighters have a number of festival appearances booked for 2023. Keep scrolling to see a full list of Foo Fighters festival dates this year.
