Foo Fighters hit the road in 2026 with the biggest stage they have ever toured. The Take Cover set stands 197 feet wide and 65 feet high. The stadium tour stops in the UK, Europe, North America, and Australia, and it lands 30 years after the band started.
Production manager Eric “Ski” Piontkowski asked Wonder Works to lead the technical design and coordination. The company took the creative vision of Dan Hadley and Paul “Arlo” Guthrie and turned it into an engineered system that can be built again and again on the road, according to LSi Online.
Nine custom curved aluminum lighting ribs sit at the heart of the design. Atlanta Rigging Services built them. Each rib starts off-stage and sweeps behind the band in a wide arc, and all of them hang in front of the iMag and upstage LED screens.
“The lighting ribs are unlike anything we’ve done before – nine curved beams wrapping the stage, sitting in front of the screen and breaking up the video wall. That’s what gives the show its unique identity and layered look,” said Jeremy Lloyd, director of Wonder Works.
Nine custom lighting pods hang over the stage. Atlanta Rigging Services made those too. Each pod holds moving lights, LED strobes, and fascia panels finished to match the industrial set. Once the PAR Can section ends, the pods keep the motion going for the rest of the night.
Matching pods sit on the delay towers out in the crowd. PRG made them to wrap around the top of each tower. They fold together on hinges, which keeps them safe in transit.
Wonder Works handled the design changes for each setup. Thanks to those changes, the show looks the same in venues with different structures. WowAxis designed and supplied custom wind bracing for the video screens, lighting ribs, and PA.
