Former I Prevail vocalist Brian Burkheiser unveils new track ‘Phases’ via Scatterbrain project

Former I Prevail singer Brian Burkheiser has released a new song titled “Phases.” This marks his first original single with his new project, Scatterbrain. Burkheiser initially planned to release “Phases” in 2025, but an “unresolved dispute” with his former band delayed the launch. In a recent update, he shared that the issue is now “behind me,” allowing him to share the song.

The music video for “Phases” highlights Burkheiser’s journey from an introverted kid to forming I Prevail and eventually leaving the band. Onscreen text in the video states, “12 years ago I started a band. It became a huge success. But success comes with a price.” It also hints at a difficult split, mentioning, “Decisions were made behind my back. I was shut out and pushed away.”

You can check out the “Phases” video on YouTube. In May 2025, I Prevail announced that Burkheiser was no longer with the band. Co-vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe took over as the full-time frontman. The band released their first album without Burkheiser, titled Violent Nature, in September 2025.
