From Skumfuks to Skumfukin’ Awesome: Sum 41 Rocks Reading’s Santander Arena

The Sum 41 “Tour of the Setting Sun” Tour hit Reading, PA, like a hurricane of nostalgia and high-octane punk energy. With the vibrant and infectious energy of The Interrupters as openers, the Santander Arena was primed for an unforgettable night of music.

Kicking off the evening were The Interrupters, a band known for their energetic live performances and ska-punk sound. Hailing from California, these guys and gal wasted no time in getting the crowd pumped up and ready for the main act. With songs like “She’s Kerosene” and “Take Back the Power,” The Interrupters delivered a set that was equal parts anthemic and infectious. Lead singer Aimee Interrupter’s charismatic stage presence and powerful vocals had the audience dancing and singing along from start to finish. By the time they left the stage, The Interrupters had set the bar high for the rest of the night.

As anticipation reached fever pitch, Sum 41 exploded onto the stage with all the energy and enthusiasm of a band half their age. Launching into hits like “Fat Lip” and ending the show with “In Too Deep,” the Canadian punk rockers had the crowd moshing and crowd surfing within seconds. Frontman Deryck Whibley’s gritty vocals and frenetic guitar riffs were as sharp as ever, while drummer Frank Zummo kept the pace relentless with his thunderous beats. The band’s chemistry was undeniable, with each member feeding off the energy of the crowd and giving it right back tenfold.

But it wasn’t just the hits that made Sum 41’s set so memorable—it was their raw passion and unbridled enthusiasm for performing live. Whether they were tearing through fan favorites like “Still Waiting” and “Motivation” or delivering more introspective tracks like “Pieces” and “With Me,” Sum 41 poured their hearts and souls into every note, leaving everything they had on the stage. It was a masterclass in punk rock performance, and the crowd couldn’t get enough.

The Sum 41 “Tour of the Setting Sun” Tour had been everything fans could have hoped for and more—a night of unbridled energy, infectious enthusiasm, and pure, unadulterated punk rock bliss. If you missed out on this epic night of music, you definitely missed out on something special.
