​From ‘the cure’ to The Cure: Robert Smith joins Olivia Rodrigo for a duet at Primavera Sound  

Robert Smith surprised fans by joining Olivia Rodrigo on stage at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, Spain, over the weekend. The lead singer of The Cure performed with Rodrigo on her new song “what’s wrong with me,” which will be featured on her upcoming album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.

Rodrigo expressed her excitement, saying, “I can’t believe this song exists with the person that it exists with. I’m just so f over the moon.” This collaboration marks the first time she has featured another artist on her album. After singing the first verse and chorus, she introduced Smith to the crowd, saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, will you welcome Robert Smith!” At the end of the performance, she added, “I feel like I’m gonna cry. I can’t believe that that’s a thing that happened in the real world and not just a figment of my imagination.”

The album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love will also include the single “drop dead,” which references The Cure’s classic “Just Like Heaven,” along with a track titled “the cure.” The record is set to be released this Friday. Smith and Rodrigo previously performed together at Glastonbury in 2025.
