Fugitive On the Run Over 15 Years Arrested at Winter Olympics

Things are getting wild in Italy! A fugitive who had been on the run for 16 years was recently caught while attending the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. On Friday, police announced the arrest of a 44-year-old Slovak man wanted by Italian authorities since 2010. He was linked to a series of thefts from over 15 years ago.

The Italian carabinieri tracked him down after he checked into a campsite. They received an automatic alert from the campsite reception, which led them to his location. The arrest happened on Wednesday, and the man was taken to Milan’s San Vittore prison. He will serve an 11-month and 7-day sentence.

Unfortunately, he missed the opening game for Slovakia’s hockey team. His name hasn’t been released yet, but this story is a reminder that you never know what might happen at big events like the Olympics! Stay tuned for more updates!
