Gabrielle’s 1993 Debut Album ‘Find Your Way’ Gets Vinyl Reissue

Find Your Way, U.K. R&B singer Gabrielle’s 1993 debut album, will be reissued on vinyl for the first time since its original release this October, coinciding with Black History Month in the U.K. Set for worldwide release as a limited edition ultra-clear 140-gram LP, it’s the latest entry in the Black Story campaign highlighting the history of Black British music.

Upon its original release, Find Your Way peaked at No. 9 on the U.K. albums chart and spun off the U.K. No. 1 single “Dreams.” After an early version of the track featuring a sample from Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” became a hit among nightclub DJs, upon official release the shuffling dance track entered the U.K. Singles Chart at No. 2, at the time the highest debut position ever for a single in the U.K.

“Dreams” was also a No. 2 hit in Australia, a top 10 hit in multiple territories worldwide, and reached the top 40 in the U.S. It gained further exposure in 1999 when it was heavily featured in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film Magnolia, in which William H. Macy’s character Donnie Smith frequently played it for personal motivation.

Subsequent U.K. hits from Find Your Way include “Going Nowhere,” I Wish,” and “Because of You,” all of which reached the top 40 in Britain. The album has achieved a Gold BPI certification and racked up 272 million global streams. Its return to vinyl has been highly sought after for years.

The Black Story campaign is an initiative designed to tell the history of artists, scenes, and sounds that shaped Black music in the U.K., serving as a reminder to fans who lived through that history and illuminating the stories for new generations who may not be aware of their significance.
