Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson Attend TIFF Premiere of Neil Peart Documentary

The Rush members spoke in Toronto ahead of the world premiere of ‘Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple.’

Rush bandmates Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson attended the world premiere of Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple at the Princess of Wales Theatre during the Toronto International Film Festival on September 16. The new documentary celebrates the life, career, and legacy of the late Rush drummer, focusing on his personal friendships within the drumming community alongside his musical achievements. Lee and Lifeson addressed the audience briefly before the screening, accompanied by the film’s directors, Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Addressing the audience, Lee explained that the film offers a personal perspective on Peart’s life beyond his public drumming persona. Lifeson remembered Peart as funny, sweet, and loyal, telling The Canadian Press that while Peart might have found a documentary about himself a bit embarrassing, he would have felt warm toward the supportive reactions from his friends. Following the TIFF premiere, the documentary will have a public screening on September 19 and is scheduled to air on Canada’s CBC network on September 23 as part of The Passionate Eye.
