Geddy Lee asks a very important question with his new Paramount+ docuseries: Are bass players human too?
The four-part series finds the iconic Rush bassist going to the homes of four other iconic bassists. They include Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, Hole’s Melissa Auf der Maur, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo and Primus’ Les Claypool.
Each episode shows Lee talking to these bassists about music but also about their non-music interests. Already, the Novoselic episode is setting itself up to be memorable. In the trailer below, we see Lee tagging along while Novoselic pilots a plane and canning food.
In a statement on the series, Lee said, “The idea for this show was born out of interviews I did for my first book ‘The Big, Beautiful Book of Bass.’ I was struck that these accomplished musicians also lived incredibly interesting, multifaceted lives offstage.”
Geddy Lee Asks: Are Bass Players Human Too? premieres on Paramount+ on Tuesday, December 5.
Before the premiere of his Paramount+ docuseries, Lee is releasing a new book. This time around, it’s a memoir examining the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s legendary life and career. Aptly titled My Effin’ Life, the book comes out on November 14 and is available for pre-order at HarperCollins.com. The day before the memoir’s release, Lee kicks off his book tour.
