Chad Gray has opened up about the emotional weight of rehearsing Hellyeah material for his upcoming "30 Years Of Madness" solo tour. In a new interview with The David Ellefson Show, Gray admitted that revisiting the songs has been "really weird," as he hasn't touched the tracks in the seven years since the passing of legendary drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott. Gray described the process as a "big ball of emotions," particularly remembering the moments spent penning and recording the songs with his late bandmate.

The decision to launch his first-ever solo shows came after Mudvayne management suggested taking 2026 off from touring. Gray, who described himself as a "worker bee," refused to sit at home, opting instead to celebrate his 30-year career across 12 albums. The solo tour, which kicks off April 24 in Las Vegas, will feature a backing band including Hellyeah guitarist Christian Brady and Mudvayne touring guitarist Marcus Raffety. For Gray, the shows are about maintaining Vinnie Paul’s legacy and serving Hellyeah fans who have been without the music since the band became inactive in 2020.
