Gerard Way and The Interrupters Unveil ‘The Mock-Ups’ with Exciting New Track Teaser

A new musical project is on the horizon! Gerard Way, the lead singer of My Chemical Romance, has teamed up with members of The Interrupters to form a band called The Mock-Ups. They are set to release their first track soon, with an album possibly following. Gauzy Records announced on Instagram, “The Mock-Ups: ‘I Wanna Know Your Name.’ Coming soon.”

In this new venture, Way will handle vocals and bass, while Aimee Allen from The Interrupters will provide backup vocals. Kevin Bivona will be on keys and production, and Jesse Bivona will play drums. Michael Schulz from Fender’s Signature Artists division rounds out the group on guitar. This marks Way’s first musical release since My Chemical Romance’s 2022 single, “The Foundations of Decay.” The new track was recorded by Doug McKean, a longtime collaborator with MCR, before his passing in 2022.

The Interrupters have seen success with their hit “She’s Kerosene,” which reached No. 4 on the Alternative charts. Their connection with Way began when they covered “Bad Guy” for The Umbrella Academy, the Netflix series he created.

My Chemical Romance recently wrapped up their North American stadium shows on September 13, celebrating 20 years since their iconic album, The Black Parade, was released. Next year, they will tour Latin America starting January 22, hitting countries from Colombia to Mexico. By April 18, they’ll head to Asia, with stops in cities like Seoul and Jakarta. UK fans can catch them at Wembley Stadium in London on July 10 and 11, 2026, marking their return after a four-year break.

Meanwhile, The Interrupters will perform at Punk In The Park in Los Angeles on October 4 and 5, followed by the Warped Tour in Orlando on November 15 and 16. Tickets are available now!
