Ghost Postpones Concert as Tobias Forge Fights Food Poisoning; Tour to Resume Soon

Ghost canceled their show at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City just minutes before it was set to start on September 23. The band announced on Instagram that singer Tobias Forge was suffering from food poisoning, making it impossible for them to perform. Fortunately, the shows on September 24 and 25 went ahead as planned.

The last-minute cancellation sparked mixed reactions from fans. Some felt the band should have canceled earlier, while others understood that food poisoning can strike suddenly. These Mexico City dates were the final stops on Ghost’s worldwide Skeletour, which supports their sixth album, Skeletá, released in April.

This tour made headlines for its unique phone ban. Staff sealed all devices in Yondr pouches during the performances, allowing fans to fully immerse themselves in the show. The stage production was the most elaborate yet, featuring stunning multimedia, intricate scenery, and impressive stage mechanics. Gothic elements blended with stark concrete designs, highlighted by a suspended “Grucifix” that served as both a centerpiece and lighting rig.

Skeletá made history as the first hard rock album to debut at number one since AC/DC’s Power Up in 2020, with first-week sales hitting 86,000 units. Over the years, Tobias Forge has transformed his stage persona, portraying characters like Papa Emeritus I-IV and Cardinal Copia, each with their own unique costumes and themes. Personal tragedies, including the loss of his brother, have also shaped his artistic vision.
