Glenn Hughes has canceled his 2026 U.S. tour due to a health issue that requires attention over the next few months. The former Deep Purple and Black Sabbath singer shared the news on Friday, saying, “I’m taking advice from my medical team, who I am working closely with. Hoping to see you, on the road of happy destiny.”
The tour was set to kick off on March 27 in San Juan Capistrano, California, and was scheduled to wrap up on May 10 in Tempe, Arizona. Fans who purchased tickets and VIP upgrades can get refunds at their original point of purchase.
The Chosen Years tour was meant to highlight songs from Hughes’ time with Trapeze, Deep Purple, Hughes/Thrall, Iommi/Hughes, and Black Country Communion. Fans were also excited to hear new tracks from his latest solo album.
At 74 years old, Glenn Hughes first gained fame in the early 1970s with Trapeze before joining Deep Purple in 1973. He shared lead vocals with David Coverdale during his time with the band, which released three studio albums: Burn, Stormbringer, and Come Taste the Band, before disbanding in 1976. In 2016, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of Deep Purple.
Hughes has been open about his struggles with addiction, revealing in 2021 that he has been sober for over twenty years. His 15th solo album, Chosen, was released in September 2025, marking his first solo record in nine years. He supported the album with a European tour and performed in South America, finishing in November 2025 in Bogota, Colombia.
Currently, no shows are scheduled, and Hughes has not disclosed the specifics of his health issue.
