The Grateful Dead has announced their next release, Dave’s Picks Vol. 56. This collection features performances from the band’s two-night run at London’s Rainbow Theatre in 1981. It’s the final release in the 2025 series.
These recordings capture the first two shows of a four-show run, marking the band’s return to Europe after a seven-year break. Dead archivist David Lemieux shared his thoughts on the shows, saying, “These London shows are right up there with the best. Some really wonderful music to end the year.”
Both nights are packed with fan favorites, including “Friend of the Devil,” “Scarlet Begonias,” “Althea,” “Truckin’,” and “Alabama Getaway.” The release features almost every song performed during the shows.
Since 2012, Dave’s Picks has unearthed amazing recordings from the Dead’s extensive archive. This latest release continues that tradition, offering crystal-clear sound from these historic performances.
Orders opened on October 14 for this limited edition. Only 25,000 numbered copies will be pressed, making these discs rare collectibles for fans. Don’t miss your chance to grab a copy!
