After weeks of whiffs, Green Day have officially announced their plans to celebrate Dookie and its 30th anniversary.

The album, which was released on February 1, 1994, features some of the band’s biggest hits like “When I Come Around,” “Longview,” and “Basket Case.” They’ve been teasing on social media that something was coming to mark the occasion. Earlier this week, it was finally revealed that they’re offering a reissue of the album in a super deluxe set that’s due out on September 29th.

Preorders are available now at this location. A post on Green Day’s Instagram says that the set will be “available as a 6-LP vinyl, 4-CD box set and up everywhere digitally.” The anniversary edition will include demos, outtakes, and live concert sets, not to mention extras like dog poop bags and air fresheners.

The band also indicated: “As a little treat for you, 10 4-track demos are also out everywhere TODAY, so go give ‘em a listen.” Stream one of those demos below.

Billie Joe, Mike and Tre are rumored to be in the studio working their next album, which would be their fourteenth studio LP. In the meantime, they’ve been dropping flashbacks on Instagram, including this very cool video of a special guest appearance in Camden, NJ back in 2017. The last time they were in Philly was the summer of 2021 when they came to Citizens Bank Park for the Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer. Check out that concert gallery here.

Every Green Day Gig in the Philly Area, From ’93 to ’23

Welcome to paradise! Green Day ringmaster Billie Joe Armstrong celebrates his birthday today (2/17). The Oakland trio have always had a second home in Philly – they’ve been playing gigs here since their pre-Dookie days, and even immortalized their ’97 show at the Electric Factory in their new Nimrod box set.

MMR has spoken with the gang many times, and you can always spot Pierre Robert bringing you complete concert coverage from the pit. In fact, when Pierre spoke with all three members of Green Day a few years ago, he brought along a list of past gigs, and Tre Cool was quite impressed with the history.

Birthday boy Billie Joe is a natural showman, so we thought we’d honor him with a tally of every time he’s brought the house down in the City of Brotherly Love. Scroll through the list and tell us how many of these shows you were at on Twitter and Instagram.
