Green Day’s New Year’s Rev movie receives new title, ‘NIMRODS’

Green Day’s movie, originally titled New Years Rev, has a new name: NIMRODS. This film is inspired by the band’s early touring days in a van. Fans will remember that Green Day released an album called Nimrod back in 1997.

The title change comes with exciting news that Inaugural Entertainment has acquired the film for distribution. Kevin Weisberg, the CEO of Inaugural, expressed enthusiasm about the project, saying, “NIMRODS is exactly the kind of bold, audience-forward storytelling we’re passionate about. It blends humor, nostalgia, and music in a way that feels fresh and relatable. We’re excited to work with the filmmakers and Green Day to share this story with audiences everywhere.”

NIMRODS follows three friends, played by Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust, who mistakenly believe they have landed a New Year’s Eve gig opening for Green Day. The cast also features Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Mckenna Grace, Fred Armisen, and Bobby Lee.

The film had its premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival under its previous title. Fans are eager to see how this story unfolds and what it brings to the world of music and comedy.
