Hooters Looks To Refresh Its Image With New ‘Family-Friendly’ Focus

Hooters is on a mission to change how people see the brand. Company leaders, including CEO Neil Kiefer, want to bring back the restaurant’s original vibe. Instead of focusing on a provocative image, they aim to make Hooters a neighborhood spot for families, couples, and friends.

Kiefer, who has been with Hooters since its early days, is working to restore the brand’s roots after it faced challenges in recent years. This includes updating employee uniforms, menu items, and overall branding. In a recent interview, Kiefer described Hooters as a friendly place where families and singles can enjoy a meal together. He noted that the brand had strayed from its original identity, becoming more sexualized than intended.

To address this, Hooters plans to bring back more traditional server uniforms and focus on food quality and a beach-themed atmosphere. Kiefer acknowledged that the previous uniforms had become too revealing, saying, “That chased away a lot of customers.” He believes a more suitable uniform will make everyone feel welcome. “There’s nothing wrong with a pair of shorts if fitted properly,” he added, emphasizing the need for a friendlier dining experience.

The company hopes these changes will attract a wider audience and rebuild trust after facing financial struggles. Hooters isn’t trying to reinvent itself but wants to return to the vision it had when it first opened in the 1980s. Whether this new approach will resonate with today’s customers is still uncertain, but the chain is optimistic about its future.
