Brilliantly revamped footage of the late Dolores O’Riordan is featured in a new music video for Iain Cook’s remix of The Cranberries’ “Ode To My Family.” Cook, a member of Chvrches, gives the classic track a fresh, synth-heavy sound on the new 30th anniversary deluxe reissue of the Cranberries’ album, No Need To Argue. He takes the original’s folksy jangle-pop vibe and adds his unique blend of keyboards and drum machines, all while keeping O’Riordan’s stunning vocal melody intact.
The video showcases this transformation, using black and white footage of O’Riordan and her bandmates from the original video shoot directed by Samuel Bayer. For the first time, this footage has been updated to 4K quality.
The recent discovery of archival film from “Ode To My Family,” along with Bayer’s videos for “Zombie” and “Ridiculous Thoughts,” sparked the social media series “The Cranberries Uncut.” This series features unedited moments from the band’s music video shoots and has quickly gained popularity among fans, receiving lots of likes and shares.
No Need To Argue, released in 1994, marked a shift for the band as they explored darker sounds, especially with the hit “Zombie.” However, “Ode To My Family,” the album’s opening track, shows their ability to create gentle and timeless beauty.
You can now shop for The Cranberries’ music on vinyl or CD.
