The Interscope Vinyl Collective has just released Hole’s iconic album, *Celebrity Skin*. This special edition is the first time the 1998 record is available as a 2LP gatefold. It features exclusive alternate cover art and includes a lithograph of the original artwork. The release maintains the original tracklist and adds the bonus track “Best Sunday Dress.” Plus, there’s a bonus 12” x 24” fold-out poster.
Produced by Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson, this reissue was mastered for vinyl, with lacquers cut by Levi Seitz at Black Belt Mastering. Only 3,000 copies of this limited edition will be available, each individually numbered. Current IVC subscribers are guaranteed a copy and will get first dibs on past titles when they become available. Subscribers also enjoy free shipping and no extra fees.
*Celebrity Skin* marked a shift in Hole’s sound, moving away from their earlier noise and grunge style to embrace a more polished, Los Angeles vibe. Frontwoman Courtney Love aimed to blend catchy hooks with a bold vision. The lyrics drew inspiration from T.S. Eliot’s *The Waste Land*. Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins co-wrote five tracks, including the powerful title song, while Charlotte Caffey from the Go-Go’s contributed to “Reasons to Be Beautiful.”
This album became Hole’s most successful release, peaking at number nine on the US Billboard 200. Erlandson reflects on its lasting impact, noting its themes of rebirth and regeneration, which feel especially relevant today. Check out the Interscope Vinyl Collective for more details!
