Iron Maiden Expresses Deep Sadness Over Passing of Original Lead Singer: ‘We Are Heartbroken’

Iron Maiden has shared a heartfelt message about the passing of their original singer, Paul Mario Day. The band expressed their sadness in a Facebook post, saying, “We are deeply saddened that Paul Mario Day, Iron Maiden’s first ever vocalist back in 1975, has passed away. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to Paul’s family and friends.”

They remembered him as “a lovely person and good mate,” adding, “Rest in peace, Paul.”

Paul Mario Day was with Iron Maiden for just one year before being replaced by Dennis Wilcock. Wilcock was later succeeded by Paul Di’Anno. Bruce Dickinson, the current frontman, joined the band in 1981.

Day’s death was announced on Tuesday by the band Sweet, with whom he played in the ’80s. Fans of Iron Maiden and rock music are mourning the loss of a talented artist who helped shape the band’s early sound.
