Iron Maiden’s frontman Bruce Dickinson has spoken out against filming concerts with phones. In a recent podcast, he expressed concern that this practice makes it harder for people to connect with the music and each other. “I wish the camera on those things had never been invented,” Dickinson said. He described phones as a “little fascist in your hand” that takes away from the live experience.
To address this issue, Iron Maiden staff are now asking fans to keep their phones away during their Run For Your Lives tour. Earlier this year, band manager Rod Smallwood shared guidelines encouraging fans to enjoy the show with their own eyes instead of through a screen. He noted that excessive phone use can ruin the experience for both the band and other concert-goers.
The Run For Your Lives tour has been a huge success, with ticket sales surpassing one million. The London show alone attracted 70,000 fans. Dickinson also praised the band Ghost for their strict no-phone policy at concerts. “I went to see the Ghost show and it was a no-phone show. The atmosphere was astonishing,” he said.
Iron Maiden’s tour will continue next year with several dates across Europe. Fans can look forward to experiencing the music live and in the moment, without the distraction of phones. Tickets are available now, so don’t miss out on the chance to see this legendary band perform!
