Jack White Chimes in on Latest Meg White Drumming Discourse

Jack White has “entered the chat,” if you will, on the recent hubbub surrounding Meg White and her drumming.

As previously reported, writer Lachlan Markay took Meg’s drumming to task in a tweet he has since deleted due to intense backlash. Markay shared a tweet about “Seven Nation Army” being considered “the best song of this century.” He wrote, in part, with his retweet, “The tragedy of the White Stripes is how great they would’ve been with a half decent drummer.”

This led to a number of people coming out in defense of Meg, which can be viewed below. Now, Jack has taken to social media sharing a photo of his former drummer/ex-wife along with a poem. The poem reads, in part:

“To be born in another time,
any era but our own would’ve been fine.
100 years from now,
1000 years from now,
some other distant, different, time.
one without demons, cowards and vampires out for blood,
one with the positive inspiration to foster what is good.”

The White Stripes is one of 14 nominees for the 2023 class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Currently, the duo sits at 12th in the Fan Vote.

As with previous years, the public can voice their choice via the Fan Vote at RockHall.com through April 28. Fans are allowed to vote once per day during the Fan Vote period. Visitors of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland can also vote in person. The “Fans’ Ballot” will comprise the top five artists from the fan vote. It will be counted among the other ballots that various artists, historians, and music industry professionals fill out.

Meg White’s Drumming Gets Trolled, Surprising People Defend Her

Meg White has been trending on Twitter this week thanks to someone who trolled her drumming for absolutely no reason.

In a since-deleted tweet, writer Lachlan Markay wrote, “The tragedy of the White Stripes is how great they would’ve been with a half decent drummer. Yeah yeah I’ve heard all the ‘but it’s a carefully crafted sound mannnn!’ takes. I’m sorry Meg White was terrible and no band is better for having sh-tty percussion.”

Even though The White Stripes officially disbanded in 2011, Meg White and her drumming is somehow a hot topic. Markay’s comment was taken to task by a number of people on Twitter and can be viewed below.
