Jake Bugg Joined By Midnight Skyracer And Other Additions To Black Deer 2022

The next round of artists joining the bill at the 2022 Black Deer Festival in Kent, England, has been announced, and includes Anglo-Irish bluegrass outfit Midnight Skyracer. Chart-topping English singer-songwriter Jake Bugg will also perform, and other newcomers include Pokey LaFarge, Treetop Flyers, and The War and Treaty.

The latest names will join the festivities over the June 17-19 weekend at Eridge Park, England’s oldest Deer Park. They expand a bill already featuring the previously-announced Van Morrison, the Waterboys, Imelda May, Drive-By Truckers, Foy Vance, Courtney Marie Andrews, Wilco, Ward Thomas, the Felice Brothers, Shovels & Rope, Shooter Jennings, and many others.

Also added to the line-up are William Prince, the Lost Brothers, Declan O’Rourke, Steak, Yasmin Williams, True Strays, Isabella Coulstock, and My Girl the River. The event, which describes itself as “three years in the making,” will be making its return after becoming an early casualty among the UK’s Covid-induced event cancellations in 2020, and suffering the same fate this year. In its first two years of operation, Black Deer swiftly built its reputation and won extensive acclaim from public and industry alike, and was named the UK’s Best New Festival at the 2018 AIF Awards.

The announcement of the 2022 event led to strong demand, with the best-priced Tier 3 tickets now almost sold out. The festival offers authentic Americana, country-rock, blues, and roots music, street food, forest school-style children’s activities, and stages and events inspired by Americana and motorcycle culture. Yet more artist names are still to be added, including big names and rising talents alike, and a further announcement will be made about the festival’s much-loved Live Fire and Roadhouse stages.

Black Deer has also again committed to giving 1500 tickets to National Health Service key workers, a gesture that was made for the 2021 festival before its cancellation. For more information and tickets, visit blackdeerfestival.com.
