Sublime is set to release a new album titled *Until the Sun Explodes* this Friday. This marks the band’s first album in 30 years and the first featuring Jakob Nowell, the son of the late frontman Bradley Nowell. However, Jakob has shared that this might be the last album he makes with the band.
In a recent interview, Jakob stated, “Unless a child of mine wants to make another one one day, this is the last one I’m gonna make.” He emphasized the importance of setting goals and moving forward. “I love doing this, and it’s truly healed me in many ways,” he added. Jakob plans to focus on his own music project, Jakobs Castle, and grow his record label.
He will continue to perform with Sublime alongside original members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh. While he mentioned that his feelings about making another Sublime album could change, he believes it would be a long time before that happens.
Jakob wants *Until the Sun Explodes* to feel like a celebration of Sublime’s history and a tribute to his father and the community that shaped him. He hopes to inspire the next generation of musicians after this release.
