Nelson, the multiplatinum hard rock duo from Southern California, has released their first-ever music video for “To Get Back To You.” The song is featured in the season two finale of HBO Max’s Peacemaker, created and directed by James Gunn. Brothers Gunnar and Matthew Nelson made a cameo in the episode, performing the single while John Cena’s character, Peacemaker, watched from the crowd. Gunn also directed the music video, which includes clips from the episode titled “Full Nelson,” named after the band.
“To Get Back To You” first appeared on Nelson’s 2010 album, Lightning Strikes Twice. Later this year, the brothers will release their autobiography, What Happened to Your Hair?, set to drop on December 16. The book will explore their musical and personal journeys.
Nelson burst onto the scene with their 1990 debut album, After The Rain, which featured four hits on the Billboard Hot 100: “After The Rain,” “More Than Ever,” “Only Time Will Tell,” and “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection.” Over the past 35 years, they have released 19 albums, including 2015’s Peace Out and the 2010 demo compilation Before the Rain. In 2022, they compiled their best tracks into Greatest Hits (And Near Misses).
The Nelson brothers also run their own record label, Stone Canyon, named after their father, Ricky Nelson, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. The family has made history as the only one with three generations of No. 1 hit makers.
