James Johnston of Biffy Clyro will miss upcoming tour dates due to mental health reasons.

Biffy Clyro bassist James Johnston will not be joining the band on their upcoming tour due to mental health issues. In an Instagram post, James shared that he has been struggling with mental health problems and addiction for some time. He expressed that these challenges have affected both him and those around him.

James wrote, “The time has come to properly address my illnesses and deal with them.” He apologized to his bandmates, Simon Neil and his twin brother Ben Johnston, thanking them for their support and understanding during this difficult time. He also mentioned that he has started receiving professional help and is hopeful for the future.

Biffy Clyro’s tour will kick off in January, covering the U.K. and Europe, with additional shows planned in Australia and New Zealand. The band had to postpone their U.S. dates earlier this month due to a visa issue.

James concluded his message by expressing gratitude to the fans for their support. In his absence, their friend Naomi Macleod will step in to play bass, and James believes she is the perfect fit for the role.
