The next chapter of the Tron saga, titled Tron: Ares, is set to hit theaters on October 10. Jared Leto takes on the lead role as Ares, a sophisticated AI program that ventures from the digital world into the real one. Excitingly, Nine Inch Nails is back to create the film’s soundtrack, marking their first new music since 2020.
Filming took place in Vancouver, where crews shut down streets at night for six weeks to capture thrilling motorcycle chases through the city. Director Joachim Rønning emphasized the goal of raising the bar for the franchise. Leto shared his excitement, recalling how much he loved the original Tron as a kid, especially the iconic Lightcycle scenes.
Jeff Bridges, who starred in the 1982 film, returns as Kevin Flynn. He expressed his enthusiasm for the evolution of the Tron story, saying, “Seeing ‘Tron’ progress from the original to ‘Tron: Ares’ is just fantastic.”
Fans can look forward to fresh tracks from Nine Inch Nails, including their new single, “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” which has already been released with a music video.
The cast also features Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Gillian Anderson, Cameron Monaghan, Greta Lee, and Arturo Castro. This new story builds on the legacy of Tron, which began in 1982 and continued with Tron: Legacy in 2010.
Tickets for Tron: Ares are available now at local theaters. Don’t miss out on this exciting new chapter!
