Former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has a new solo song called “Drown Fountain.” The track features Canadian alt-rock duo Softcult. It’s also Weinberg’s first time singing on a released track.
Weinberg says he began the song in 2013 and kept revisiting it. After hearing Softcult, he reached out and the collaboration helped finish the song. He calls the result more vulnerable than his past work.
“Drown Fountain” is Weinberg’s third solo single. His earlier releases include “Sandstone,” featuring George Clarke of Deafheaven, and “Drone Operator,” featuring NOWHERE2RUN. Weinberg also plays drums on the upcoming death metal album The Ringing Bell by Fuming Mouth, out July 17.
