The frontman confirmed at the Aftershock festival that conversations about writing new music have officially begun.
Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach revealed during an appearance at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California, that the band has begun discussing writing new music. Following the 2025 release of their album This Consequence, Leach shared that he wants the band’s next project to feature faster tempos and heavier riffs, stating, “I’m pushing for faster and heavier and harder, for fun.” Though Leach expressed a preference for a harder direction, he clarified that there is currently no firm plan or release timeline, and that the music composed by his bandmates will ultimately dictate the songs’ emotional direction.
The Aftershock appearance marked Killswitch Engage’s final U.S. show for quite some time. The band is scheduled to perform in New Zealand and Australia next, with potential European festival dates being considered for 2027.
