Alt-J frontman Joe Newman has just released a new music video for his solo single, “Brush Me Like a Horse,” under the name JJerome87. The video features a surreal scene of a man trapped on a treadmill that hangs over a cliff, creating a tense situation where he risks falling to his death.
Director Alex Takács describes the song as an “acid western” about a man facing a cruel and humiliating public execution. Newman shared his vision of a state execution on a treadmill, which inspired the entire narrative of the video.
You can check out the “Brush Me Like a Horse” video on YouTube. The single is part of Newman’s debut album, The Canyon, which is available now exclusively on his website.
For fans of Alt-J, the band’s latest album, The Dream, was released in 2022.
