John 5 and The Creatures Haunt Voltage Lounge In Philly

One of the hottest shredders on the planet who has worked with the likes of Marilyn Manson, Rob Halford, Dave Lee Roth, Lita Ford and his current gig is Rob Zombie’s right hand man, John 5, finally brought his John 5 and The Creatures Invasion Tour to Philly, albeit it was at Voltage Lounge one of the smallest and most cramped venues in the city.  The stage was so small, John 5 couldn’t use any of the blowup stage props we have come accustomed to seeing on stage with him. The venue however added to the the “feel” of the show.  John 5 even said when they picked Voltage Lounge for the tour, he did so thinking that he wanted people to feel uncomfortable watching the show.

John 5 and The Creatures is comprised of world-renowned guitarist John 5, bassist Ian Ross and drummer Logan Miles Nix.  John 5 and his band plays variety of genres while out on his solo tour including metal, rock, country, bluegrass, and some of that finger pickin’ stuff.  John 5 plays some of his iconic guitars that we normally only get to see him play on Instagram or with Rob Zombie. Some of these include his LED guitar, a banjo, a miniature guitar and a guitar filled with a green glow in the dark liquid. Even though there were no stage dressing besides a John 5 banner we were still treated to the masks, the drool and the veil John 5 likes to wear while on stage.  One of the highlight of a John 5 show is the medley of songs he plays.  This time around we heard snippets of  Metallica, Nirvana, Pantera, Police, Soundgarden and many more all played to perfection.  Before playing his final song of the night “I Want It All,” we were treated to the Star Spangle Banner played with John 5’s teeth.

Supporting John 5 and The Creatures this time around was Jared James Nichols and Reverend Jack.
