Josh Freese is keeping busy in 2025! After leaving Foo Fighters and rejoining Nine Inch Nails, he’s now drumming for Weezer on their South American tour. While Freese takes the drum seat, Weezer’s regular drummer, Pat Wilson, has switched to guitar.
Freese will also play drums for Weezer’s upcoming show in Mexico City this Sunday and during their Australian tour in December. He made it clear in a recent Instagram post that Pat is still the band’s drummer. “Always has been and always will be,” Freese wrote. “But he also just happens to be a ripping guitarist.”
This isn’t Freese’s first time with Weezer. He played drums for them back in 2009 when Pat wanted to focus on guitar. “I handled the drum duties with them for almost 3 years,” Freese shared. “We had a great time, and here we are 13 years later doing it again.”
After the shows in Australia, Freese isn’t sure if he’ll continue with Weezer. However, he confirmed that he will be drumming for Nine Inch Nails on their 2026 Peel It Back tour, starting in February. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting projects!
