Josh Turner has announced a new album, This Country Music Thing. The singer’s 10th studio album is produced by longtime collaborator Kenny Greenberg and features several songs written or co-written by Turner. This Country Music Thing is out August 16 via MCA Nashville and is available for pre-order now alongside new exclusive merchandise. A vinyl version of the album will be available September 13.

The album announcement arrives with a new single, “Down in Georgia.” Written by Tyler Booth, Anthony Olympia, and Brent Rupard, the song is a feel-good Southern anthem that captures the singer’s current state of mind. “I think they’ve been reading my mail, because I married a girl from Georgia and we actually moved to Georgia last year,” says the South Carolina native. “Down in Georgia” follows April’s “Heatin’ Things Up.”

After releasing his first Greatest Hits album in the fall of 2023, Turner will bring The Greatest Hits Tour from coast to coast throughout 2024.

Last year, Turner celebrated the 20th anniversary of his 2003 debut, Long Black Train, with a vinyl release and celebratory tour. Long Black Train was certified Platinum by the RIAA with nearly 1.5M album sales, 1.4M track downloads and over 294.3M life-to-date streams. The titular breakthrough single was also certified Platinum with over 1.1M track downloads and more than 242.2M global streams.

Turner’s second album, 2006’s double Platinum, Grammy-nominated Your Man, also celebrated a recent anniversary. In June 2021, Turner released a deluxe edition of Your Man as well as the mini documentary “Josh Turner Your Man 15th Anniversary.” That record’s titular track is one of Turner’s five No. 1 singles and the official music video has surpassed 208 million views. Another one of the album’s hit singles, the Grammy-nominated, certified triple-Platinum selling “Would You Go With Me,” experienced a viral resurgence after appearing on the Your Man deluxe edition. The track success on TikTok led to a jump in streaming which brought the classic country tune to Spotify’s US Viral 50.
