Kathleen Hanna and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz have a new duet — and it’s for a cause. The Bikini Kill singer and the Beastie Boys guitarist, who married in 2006, covered DJ Snake and Justin Bieber’s 2016 hit “Let Me Love You.” The track also features former Beastie Boys touring members Money Mark and Fredo Ortiz, plus Frank Figueroa.
Their version appears on a benefit compilation called Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT, organized by Build Art Make Change. The project raises money for the National Day Laborer Organizing Network and Unión del Barrio. Build Art Make Change founder Dali Colorado says Contra-ICE aims to support frontline groups and amplify immigrant voices.
Hanna says she loved making music with friends while supporting a grassroots cause that fights fascism and white supremacy. The album also includes tracks from Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Jello Biafra (former Dead Kennedys) and Fishbone.
Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT drops Oct. 2. There will be release shows in Los Angeles on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3.
