Kendrick Lamar’s ‘PRIDE.’ Joins Spotify’s Billions Club

Kendrick Lamar’s “PRIDE.” song is the latest to join Spotify’s Billions Club, which celebrates songs that have eclipsed more than one billion views on the streaming platform. This marks the singer’s tenth song to reach this milestone.

“PRIDE.” is a deep cut from the rapper’s 2017 fourth album, DAMN, featuring background vocals from producer Steve Lacy and singer Anna Wise, the latter of whom collaborated with Lamar on “These Walls” from his Grammy-winning To Pimp A Butterfly album. While “PRIDE.” wasn’t officially a single (it did enter the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100), its introspective themes make it a highlight on DAMN. In 2023, the song was used at the end of the series finale of FX’s Snowfall.

DAMN. debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and earned a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. The album featured singles, “HUMBLE.”, “LOYALTY” featuring Rihanna, and “LOVE” featuring Zacari.

Other songs from Lamar in the Spotify Billions Club include DAMN.’s “HUMBLE.”, “LOVE”, and “DNA.”; “All The Stars” featuring SZA and his “Pray For Me” collaboration with The Weeknd from 2018’s Black Panther film soundtrack; “Money Trees” featuring Jay Rock from 2012’s Good Kid, M.A.A.D City; his features on Baby Keem’s 2021 single “family ties” and on Maroon 5’s 2016 single “Don’t Wanna Know”; and 2024’s diss track “Not Like Us”.

Lamar is currently on his “Grand National” Tour, with friend and frequent collaborator SZA as the co-headliner. The North American leg kicked off on April 19 in Minneapolis, with the UK and Europe leg beginning on July 2 in Cologne. In February of this year, Lamar, of course, performed at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, which surpassed Michael Jackson’s 1993 performance as the most viewed halftime show.

That same month, “Not Like Us” won five Grammy Awards: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. At the 2025 NAACP Awards, the inescapable track also took home a trophy for Outstanding Hip-Hop/Rap Song.
