KISS Celebrate 40 Years Of ‘Animalize’ With Vinyl Exclusives Will Schube

KISS are celebrating 40 years of their classic 12th studio album Animalize with a very limited edition, highly collectible picture disc vinyl pressing of 500 units worldwide.

Additional custom touches include an exclusive replica fur cover jacket with a brand-new double-sided poster. Each pressing will be uniquely numbered.

The band will also be releasing a limited-edition black ice and white cornetto vinyl color effect pressing, housed in a silver mirror wrapped jacket and brand-new single-sided poster. This edition is limited to 2,500 units worldwide.

The album is highlighted by standout cuts like first single “Heaven’s on Fire” and “Thrills in the Night.”

The exciting anniversary isn’t the only fresh news to recently emerge out of KISS Land.

Earlier this month, the iconic rockers became the latest act to score an entry to Spotify’s Billions Club, after their classic hit “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” reached one billion streams on the platform.

The Billions Club playlist first launched in 2020 as home to all of the songs on Spotify that have impressively surpassed one Billion streams. In addition to a spot on the playlist, which currently has 682 songs, Spotify also recognizes the artists with a Billions Club plaque. “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” is KISS’ first track to reach the major milestone.

The song originally appeared on the group’s 1979 album Dynasty. It was released as the A-side of their first single for the album, with the song “Hard Times” as the B-side. The track became the group’s second Gold single, selling over 1 million copies in both the U.S. and Canada. It reached number 11 on the Billboard singles chart and No.1 on the Canadian national chart, at the same time becoming a hit in Australia and New Zealand and charting in Europe.

In 2017, Paul Stanley admitted that he felt conflicted about the song’s success. He called it “a double-edged sword, because it became such a massive hit but it was also so contrary and contradictory to what we had done before.” He continued: “The funniest thing is when we do festivals sometimes in Europe where it’s very much… the bands are quite heavy, well, when we do an encore of ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’, you suddenly have all these people with spikes in their eyeballs or bones through their noses singing along. So it’s a song that seems to transcend everything — although it went through a period, certainly, of a big backlash against it.”
