President Donald Trump announced this year’s Kennedy Center Honorees on Wednesday, and KISS is among the artists being celebrated. The announcement came during a press conference where Trump praised the band, saying, “They’re great people and they deserve it. They work hard, and they’re still working hard.”
Along with KISS, this year’s honorees include singer Gloria Gaynor, actor Sylvester Stallone, Phantom of the Opera star Michael Crawford, and country music legend George Strait. Trump mentioned that KISS has “something very special” planned for the annual ceremony, which will take place on December 7. “We’re gonna have a good time,” he added.
KISS was formed in New York City in 1973 by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss. They released their self-titled debut album in 1974 and have since become one of the best-selling bands in history, with over 100 million records sold worldwide. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
Fans can look forward to an exciting ceremony as KISS and the other honorees are recognized for their incredible contributions to music and entertainment.
