Legendary 2016 Pearl Jam Show in Philadelphia Available Free

The Coda Collection just made the Christmas season in the Philadelphia area a lot more exciting with an opportunity to stream arguably the best local performance in Pearl Jam history.

Pearl Jam has a unique connection to the city of Philadelphia. Eddie Vedder even gave a shout out on stage to Pierre Robert, Nick McIlwain, and Matt Cord (now with our sister station WMGK) in 2013. He credited MMR as the first station to play Pearl Jam’s rendition of “Last Kiss.”

Some of the band’s best live performances have taken place in the City of Brotherly Love. They acknowledged the intimate connection with one of the most memorable shows in the history of the Wells Fargo Center on April 29, 2016.

The band came to Philadelphia as part of their tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of their original studio album Ten. The album features some of the top hits in their history, including “Black,” “Even Flow,” and “Jeremy.”

The Wells Fargo Center lowered a number “10” banner to celebrate 10 Pearl Jam sellouts between the Spectrum and the Wells Fargo Center at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex in addition to the album title.

The Coda Collection is currently offering the entire performance as part of a free trial through the end of the year. You can enjoy the performance through Amazon Prime without committing to a subscription. The full service from the Coda Collection includes a library of streaming concerts, documentaries, and series.

Pearl Jam played “Ten” in its entirety in South Philly. They followed it up with covers of “Baba O’Riley” and “Comfortably Numb.” The show lasted three hours, and it was the second of two shows on consecutive nights.

The homage to Pink Floyd included another local connection. Roger Waters originally wrote “Comfortably Numb” about an experience he had with a local doctor before playing a show at the Spectrum in 1987.

Enjoy the sound of a band that loves the city of Philadelphia as much as you do this holiday season.
