Lil Baby Stars In First Single From ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ Official Soundtrack

Republic Records and Warner Bros. Pictures have announced the Space Jam: A New Legacy Official Soundtrack , arriving in stores and at all digital retailers on July 9, 2021. To herald the arrival of the soundtrack, the first single, “We Win (Space Jam: A New Legacy)” by Lil Baby and Kirk Franklin dropped today.

The track unites red-hot multiplatinum GRAMMY Award-nominated Atlanta rapper Lil Baby with 16x GRAMMY Award-winning multiplatinum gospel icon Kirk Franklin over a beat from Just Blaze (Eminem, Jay-Z). On the track, Lil Baby references the original film, rapping, “We will be better than ever/Made a promise, we can do it together/And I ain’t breakin’ my word/I just wish that I could fly like a bird/Get away from this earth.”

On Wednesday this week, LeBron James shared the track on game day to his over 85 million Instagram followers and had fans buzzing over the arrival of the song. James stars alongside Oscar nominee Don Cheadle, Khris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green, newcomer Cedric Joe, Jeff Bergman, Eric Bauza, and Zendaya. Director Malcolm D. Lee is joined alongside an innovative filmmaking team including Ryan Coogler and Maverick Carter. With Lil Baby highlighting the soundtrack, the film is sure to be a cultural sensation. The animated/live-action film opens in theaters across the U.S. and on HBO Max on Friday July 16. The film will be available on HBO Max for 31 days from theatrical release.

Lil Baby has strengthened his argument as the hottest rapper in the game of late, most notably releasing a remix of “On Me” at the end of April featuring Megan Thee Stallion. In only 5 months “On Me” has become RIAA certified platinum and is currently a Top Five US streaming hip-hop song. In this year alone, the track has amassed over 400M global streams and hit No.1 at Urban Radio (and currently building in the top 10 at Rhythm Radio). Lil Baby’s album My Turn also became the highest selling and highest streaming album in the US with 25 billion streams.
