Lindsey Buckingham Pays Tribute to ‘Musical Comrade’ Christine McVie

Lindsey Buckingham has issued a statement in tribute to Christine McVie, his Fleetwood Mac bandmate who died yesterday (November 30) at age 79.

Buckingham’s statement begins, “Christine McVie’s sudden passing is profoundly heartbreaking. Not only were she and I part of the magical family of Fleetwood Mac, to me Christine was a musical comrade, a friend, a soul mate, a sister.”

He concludes, “For over four decades, we helped each other create a beautiful body of work and a lasting legacy that continues to resonate today. I feel very lucky to have known her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on through that body of work and that legacy.”

Buckingham and McVie released an album together in 2017 aptly titled Lindsey Buckingham Christine McVie. The two musicians toured together in 2017 in support of the release.

An exact cause of death for McVie is not currently known to the public. The statement confirming her death said, “She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness.” Stevie Nicks shared in her tribute to McVie, “I didn’t even know she was ill…until late Saturday night. I wanted to be in London, I wanted to get to London — but we were told to wait.”
